Pioneering missile technology: Lawrence Livermore’s LIDSS raft and WSI’s integral role

November 20, 2024

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) is renowned for its groundbreaking research and technological advancements. One of the Laboratory’s significant contributions to missile technology is a system referred to as LIDSS (LLNL Independent Diagnostic Scoring System). This unique system is used for evaluating the accuracy and performance of intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) and other conventional delivery systems, which are crucial to maintaining a viable U.S. deterrent. This work is detailed in the article, “Testing Missile Technology on the High Seas”.

Integral to the functionality of the LIDSS raft are the advanced recording systems from Wideband Systems Inc. (WSI). The WSI recording systems are integrated within the enclosure of the LIDSS raft, facilitating data acquisition and processing. The systems are designed to handle the complex demands of maritime environments, ensuring robust performance even in challenging conditions.

This work underscores WSI’s commitment to advancing scientific research. By providing state-of-the-art technology, the company aids in pushing the boundaries of what is possible in missile technology testing and evaluation.

The collaboration highlights WSI’s expertise in delivering reliable, high-quality solutions that meet the exacting standards of defense research. The work not only enhances WSI’s profile in the field of telemetry and recording systems but also contributes significantly to national security. The ongoing development and enhancement of systems like the LIDSS raft are crucial for the future of defense technology, and WSI is proud to be at the forefront of this exciting venture.
